Hello,
I own a 100 yr old row house in Washington, DC. My basement is currently unfinished. I want to renovate the basement turning half of it into a living space and the other half into a shop space. I plan to replace my current oil fired boiler and gas water heater with electric models. The boiler and water heater would be located in a small room in the living space with a louvered door. A wall will separate the shop space from the living space. The spaces would be connected by a doorway. I want to be able to repair and store gasoline engines in the shop space. I plan to have on-demand ventilation in the shop space, but would not run it all the time. I am concerned about gas fumes causing a hazard with my boiler, water heater, washer/dryer etc. I do not know what the building codes allow and would appreciate any feedback anyone can provide. |
