buying online

buying online can bring the price down because they have lower overhead. but 1.69 still needs to be explained.
the first concern is milling. if the product goes together great, then the first test is passed. the other concern cannot be determined untill a couple years of living on it.
for instance, a customer told me they were not going with my laminate because they found another manufacturer that was a buck less than me. well I explained it was because mine was high pressure and had excellent milling.
but I also told them that I know nothing of the manufacturer they were buying from so I could not compare.
they took the risk and purchased the economy lam.
they called a month later and said it went together relatively well and it was holding up great!!!!!!!!!!!
I congratulated them and told them to keep me in mind when they needed flooring next.

Well they called a year later, and the story was alot different. After a year of living on it, it was starting to have gapping seams, and major scratches, and even 2 dents from canned foods.

my laminate was alot more stable and certainly more dent resistant. And more scratch resistant.
Does that mean that if they bought my lam, there would have been no problems? no.
maybe they installed incorrectly, or maybe they abused their floor. But they would have had a better chance if they would have spent more money on a higher end product.

to make a long story short. the ONLY way to make sure you are getting the quality you need, is to get as educated as a salesperson on lam floor, and find out if the quality of lam is up to your household traffic.
you don't want to pay another $2.50 down the road for a better quality.
that is not much of a money saver.
