cabinets

i want to take-out four cabinets in my kitchen to make a desk area (a space of between 53"-55"). i know that i will need to put down new hardwood (that i already have). has anyone every taken on this sort of project?

need to unscrew the faces from each other. unscrew cabinets from countertop and unscrew cabinets from wall and hopefully wiggle loose without scratching hardwood in front of cabs. maybe put carboard or something down. standard desk height is about 30" tall, so it sounds like your desk is going to be about 6" higher than normal
