I am trying to reduce the impact (footfall) noise caused by walking on finsished hardwood floors.
My plan is to put some nice thick carpets down, as well as some padding underneath.
Here's my question: does anybody knmow of any other materials I should consider placing under the carpets or pads to further reduce or dampen the sound?
I have read that cork underlayment is very effective on a sub-floor. I wonder if I could use it on top of my existing floor (under the carpets) with equal success???
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
