casement vs. sliders

pros for casements

1) better air infiltration ratings since sash closes against frame
2) more view (no annoying bar in check rail where sashes meet.
3) easier to escape from in case of fire (more room)
4) easier to operate in most cases
5) more air flow when open

cons for casements

1) casements open to the outside which means that they have to have room to open outwards

I personally don't know any good reasons to buy sliders. rollers do wear out eventually.

also i would highly recommend vinyl over solid aluminum. aluminum windows conduct heat and cold and are very low energy efficient material.

if you have any other questions email me.

THANKS,
