caulk over new grout

12/30/2007 06:43 AM suzanc1

I recently renovated my bathroon. I have installed a new 5 foot shower with no bath tub. all the floor and wall tiles have been replaced with new tile and new grout. a friend recommended that before i use the shower and wet the new tile, i place a clear caulk over the entire grouting of the shower, walls and floor to keep it white and beautiful. can this be done? i have seen a number of entries stating that caulk should go between the wall and floor of the shouwer and corners (my guy only grouted) can i place the caulk over the grout before it is used? if not, should i remove the corner and floor meets wall grout and replace it with caulk. can anything be done, to preserve this beautiful look before i use the shouwer.
thanks
