central heat/air conditioning

12/15/2007 12:44 AM leothelion

Just bought the home..I am new to this type of heating system! When the heating system is in operation, should I leave the top & bottom "wall" vents open or closed? The heat in is discharged thru the floor vents. Are the wall vents for air condition only, or are they also for "air intake" for the heating??

If the high and low vents let air out of the same duct that runs up through the wall, most people close the top one for heating, then close the bottom one with the top opened for cooling.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
