compound mitre saw

there is a stop on my new saw at 31.62 degrees. What is that stop used for? I am a novice in the use for the saw

Its for cutting crown moulding (the trim that is where the walls meet the ceiling). Crwon moulding is attached at an angle, so must be cut at something other than 45 degrees.
