my house has cpvc plumbing and is one year old. whenever we turn the hot water on anywhere in the house we hear a popping noise that lasts for around 1-2 minutes and then it stops. also after a shower and the water turned off we can hear a popping sound from the pipes about once every minute for about an hour. my builder says this is normal from cpvc plumbing because the pipes are expanding when hot. is this normal? it is very aggravating hearing this noise. |

odd that the plastic is popping...much more common for the water-heater to pop and the noise transmits through the piping...check the heater. erik |

CPVC Noise |

We have cpvc also and have the same problem. I checked in our attic and there are (2) 1/2" pvc pipes running the length of the house. They are anchored with metal "nail in" brackets every other truss. If you found a cure for this problem would you please let me in on the secret? I read something about using a special type of plastic bracket to remedy this problem. If so what is the name of it? Thanks |
