crumbling foundation

02/25/2007 12:04 PM vicelj

I've noticed extensive "sand" accummulating around my patio door entrance, which I assume is crumbling concrete. Perhaps not coincidentally, each year we have an invasion of ants at the same spot. Are the ants doing the damage, or something else? This "sand" appears to come from under the frame where it meets the patio, and sometimes is blown into the home under the frame. The home has vinyl siding. How can I address this, and be sure my foundation is not at risk?

Your best bet is to have an exterminator look at the foundation/house. It is doubful your foundation is is causing the deposits and ants will not damage concrete.
