cupping mahogany

11/27/2007 01:59 PM friendofpea

Hi all, this July I installed a deck, approx 12x25, using cambara 'blue label' mahogany decking, pre-finished with Cabot Australian Timber Oil. All my cuts sealed with AnchorSeal. Boards spaced 3/16". Mfr suggested recoat in 3 mo. Problem is that the boards have cupped in addition to weathering. Supply house says this is normal, but I disagree... we spent the extra $ on this product with the thought that this wouldn't happen, at least not in 3 months! Any help/ideas? (Deck gets moderate sun and has plenty of venting room). THanx.
