I have a dead animal in between an exterior and interior wall and it smells awful. The interior wall is wood paneling. What can we do about finding the animal or eliminating the odor and how long does an odor from a dead rat or squirrel last? Please help! Thank you.

I have the same problem with maggots crawling our from paneling? How long will this last and what can I do?

first the animal dies and stinks
then the maggots come and spread the stink
then the maggots die and stink all over.

I would start looking for the source and rip the wall open. If it stinks for a week, it isn't drying out very quickly. gross
