I've noticed the tension bar in my bathroom is making indents in my drywall. Also, I've noticed a crack in the corner of the dry wall. I'm looking at an area above the tub surround (three feet to the ceiling. The house has only been lived in for a year and a half. I'm worried the builder possibly put the wrong drywall in the bathroom. Should I tile over this area or do I need to pull out the drywall and place the blue/green board in its place?

Yes, it has a fan.

I would put tile on the wall above the tub surround and on the ceiling if at all possible.

If it's normal "gray" drywall in the bath, you shouldn't tile over it. If you get a leak in some grout, it'll be a moldy-mush in short-order!!

It needs to be at least the "greenboard", or the much stiffer/heavier "cementboard", which is unaffected by water penetration.

The easiest way:
Just caulk the corner-crack, & ease-off slightly with the shower-rod pressure. You could also use some type of clear "backer-block" for the rod...maybe a clear plexi-glass. The rods pressure would then be distributed over a bigger area.
