I'm a widow & bought a home in 2003. It's a ranch style home & I relied on the homeowner & realtor to be honest with me. There were cracks in corners the 4 foot doorway going in to the kitchen. The realtor said there was a jack under the house (crawlspace) He went under & cranked the house up some. The crack closed, I bought the house. Since that time, my closet door in my bedroom will not close. The front door will not close. I have to lift up & pull & engage the deadbolt. The regular door thingy no longer lines up & will not stay shut without the deadbolt. I came home from work last night at 10:PM & my back door (french doors) was wide open. I can't shut them now & have a chair propped up to keep it closed. Does this ALWAYS mean an expensive foundation problem? Can it mean I simply need to have the house jacked up again? I'm by no means wealthy and am looking for a permanent CHEAP fix. Any opinions will be appreciated.
