foundation question

04/23/2007 06:11 PM jdearcos

hi, i live in southern west texas where it is very hot and very hilly(land). my situation is that i just bought a 4 year old house and noticed that to the right of the front door, in the outside, there is an area where the water ponds on the concrete against the house wall(kinda like in a corner). I was told that this could be the reason that (in the inside) the floors sort of sink in the middle area. i do have one cracked tile and the grout is cracked not toward the center but toward the front door; the tile is near the front door and nowhere near the center of the house where the floor is supposedly sunken. i have seen evidence of the walls separating a little for example a gap between the floor border on the wall and the floor. now what i wanted to do was form up the concrete where the water is staying but i was wandering if this will take care of my problem or if i have to do something more to the foundation before i fix the concrete. there are now evident cracks on the foundation or inside the house aside from the tile.
