front steps

I just had my front steps replaced using granite slabs. Becuase the granite used did not come in the size I needed ( 11 feet), the mason used two slabs per step. There a small seam where the slabs meet. My question is should the seem be filled in with some type of mortar. I would asked the mason but he has disapppered. He des not respond to emails, cell , business or home voice mail. He seems to have left jobs unattended all over the town. I have only paid him 50 % of the job, I am sure he will be back. I am concerned that having that small seem in the steps may cause me a problem. Is the open a issue that I should address now with somebody else . thanks

if the front steps are outside, you don't need to fill the seam with glue or mortar. let the steps settle for some time, if the seams don't turn bigger, leave it alone, otherwise, you need ask them to fix it.
