Florescent tube lighting is the most light for the least electricity, and quite appropriate for this location.
If you need more light, just add more florescent fixtures in your ceiling. You can get these quite cheaply at any home store -- they are on sale often.
You can wire these onto the same switch your current lights are on -- they don't use many watts, so there should be no load problems.
P.S. While you're in the ceiling installing these lights, it's easy to add a ceiling outlet for an overhead trouble light on a retractable cord, and that's something mechanics find very useful. |
