We have a 2yr old system in the house and the outside unit is 5. When we turn on our heat the furnance kick on and the out side fan is on also. The pipe leading to the outside unit to the house it warm when you touch it. The problem is when we turn our heat on it goes from 69 degress to 60 degrees. Heat pumps are suppose to blow cool but not freezing. Any suggestions. |

The duct might have fallen off so you are getting cold air. Have it fixed.

Pipe dreams of cold ducks |

Yopu said the large pipe connected to the outside unit is warm, so the unit is working right; but you are getting cold air. This usually means that you are pulling cold air into the house from a disconnected duct. Fix it.
Don't ask me where it is - I don't live in your house, so I can't see it from here.

Increased air flow wouldn't decease air flow.

If all the ducts are OK, and the unit is heating, then you are in the twilight zone. One might then assume that the heat pump is not heating. As it is cooling the house down instead of heating it up, you probably feel like being in a meat locker by now; if not; check the accuracy of the thermometer with another known good one. Also, your backup (second stage) heat strips might either not be there or they aren't working.

could there be air in the line? some one told us to open the valve and let air out. could this be the problem. If so and we release the valve will air only come out or are the any chemicals. We have children with asthma that is why i am asking. |
