air in line

could there be air in the line? some one told us to open the valve and let air out. could this be the problem. If so and we release the valve will air only come out or are the any chemicals. We have children with asthma that is why i am asking.

Let air out of where? Certainly not inside the refrigerant lines. IF there is air in there, you have a BIG problem that requires a pro to get it out, not opening lines to waste refrigerant and kill the compressor.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.

i guess we will get another space heater and suck it up till spring we dont have the money to call a repair guy.
