high efficiency furnace

I have a Concord hi efficiency furnace (125 BTU). It is piped with 3-inch supply and 3-inch exhaust rather than the 2-1/2 inch as recommended in the installation manual. Will this affect the efficiency?

Pried piper

Many installation manuals offer using larger piping when the distances and elbows are greater than a certain distance. Without bing told the distance and number of bends, there is insufficient evidence to second guess.

A reason to use larger pipe is to make less resistance to intake and exhaust flow. As the air and products of combustion are metered through the unit by the vent fan, there should be no problem with that, and you probably haven't seen one.

However, check with the Lennox company customer service that makes concord and Armstrong to check that it is allowable under the warranty, as you don't want to lose the warranty.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
