i call it an igniter you call it a glowbar.same thing. shouldn't be too hard to change.i've done many. no it wouldn't do any good to try to light by hand.because if any gas was coming out it would have lit by itself. wouldn't do any good to clean the burner tube again you already did that. i say you next step is replace the igniter,glowbar.it's probably weak and that is the part that takes a beating and wears out.
