in line duct fan wiring

12/21/1999 10:02 PM chop5309

I am installing an in line duct fan to boost airflow to an addition that was put on my house before I bought it. I have the fan hung and attached to the duct, now where do I wire it to. Can I wire it directly to the blower motor so that it comes on or can I wire into an accesory location(ie electronic air cleaner location) on my circuit board?

in line duct fan wiring

The duct fan generally uses a pressure switch to sense that the fan is on. This in turn brings on the duct fan which is wired to the nearest 120vac source,.... Since the fan itself draws very little amps, a nearby fixture or outlet will do.
You can also wire it to your furnace fan, but this is usually much further away.
