I am going to lay a ceramic tile floor over lauan underlayment. How do I need to lay the lauan underlayment. Are screws enough or is there some adhesive I should use?

It should not be done. Look on any bag of thinset and it will say "not to be set over luan". You should use exterior glue plywood and a cement board. Nobody sanctions the use of luan under ceramic tile.
