Hi I have a GE dishwasher (gsd720P-34BA) that only leaks on discharge. It has a sterady stream at the bottom where the motor and plastic housing meet (what ever that part is). Is there a gasket that failed or do I need to replace one of the two mating parts (if, which one)?

No but there is a seal there which is likely defective. It comes in a kit along with the pump's impeller and a few other misc. parts:

It may be possible that the motor shaft has deteriorated from or causing the leak and you'll be unable to install the new seal adequately to stop the leakage. In that case the whole pump and motor assembly would be needed.

BTW. Many technicians will only replace the whole pump unit rather than try to repair it because of latter problems when only the seal has been replaced. (Neither the motor nor pump housing are available separately.)

The good news is that the replacement pump asm. has been redesigned with a more powerful yet quieter motor which consumes less energy than the original. If the rest of the dishwasher is still in decent shape, a new pump and motor may be a worthwhile investment if necessary.
