I recently noticed the lights flickering in my house. It is a very random thing that does not seem to be associated with anything turning on or off. Is there anything I can do to figure out why this is happening? Before I call an electrician I would like to make some sort of educated guess as to what might be causing this problem. |

First, is this all the lights in the whole house flickering at once, or just some of them?
And is the wiring coming in to the house from the power company overhead or underground? If it's overhead, look along that wire, to see if you can see any loose places, damaged insulation, etc.
Does the flickering seem to happen when it is windy outside? That would indicate a poor connection somewhere between your house and the power company pole.
Does it happen at the same time your furnace blower or AC kicks in? That might mean it's just a temporary heavy power demand.
But do keep looking into this -- some of the causes can be serious. |
