linoleum on plaster walls

05/13/2003 05:34 AM stevecat

I have an older home with plaster walls. My kitchen is very small. The walls are notched, chipped, gouged, holed, and rough. I've used spackling to fill and level and it's better, but I still don't have a smooth surface. I concidered wall paper but I'm afraid it won't stick to the textured surface. Can I use 12" linoleum floor tiles on the walls? I need a washable surface part way up, especially around the stove. Above the tiles I could use a textured paint to the ceiling. Has any had experience with linoleum on walls, and any suggestions how to proceed?
