MyPenthouse

We just put our deposit in to have the folks at MyPenthouse.com build a second floor addition.

They should be here in 8 weeks with our addition, and should be done by Thanksgiving!

If you're looking for an addition in WI tell Jeff I said hello.

Well, here it is election day, and we still don't have the addition from the factory. We were told it'd be here this week, as recently as 2 weeks ago. Monday, I called when there was nobody showing up to rip off my roof and Jeff told me 'we're at least 2 weeks away'. Now we're looking at the END of November to start. That puts us into the end of December for completion. BOO! Jeff says the factory has slowed production to a crawl. Lack of communication is very frustrating.

Update 2

We got the communication squared away and a solid install date shortly after my last post. December 2nd they arrived right on time and started taking the roof off. December 3rd, they were only able to work a few hours before they had to put the tarp back up because it started to snow. The 4th, they arrived early - 6 am, and kicked butt on tearing the roof off! By 2:30 pm the crane was loading the first of three modular sections and by 5:00 pm all three were in place and we were weather tight again!

I've posted a bunch of pictures on facebook. Here are the links to the albums.

While they say you can live there through the process.. Yes.. It's possible, but I'd advise against it if there's a nearby relative you can stay with. They try to contain the dust and mess but mere mortals are no match for this stuff. Huge upside is, it's very short timeline using modular vs stick built. They expect to be finished by x-mas which would be 21 days hammer to hammer.

Another huge plus to working with this company is flexibility. Jeff will deliver a plain box which you can finish yourself, or coordinate all the contractors to deliver a finished product. He'll also accomodate anything in between as is our case. We went with people we knew personally for tile and paint, and their contractors, familiar with jobs like this, for plumbing, heating and electrical.
