moving prewired speakers

10/14/2001 01:10 PM naya

Is there a way to move prewired speakers without it becoming a major ordeal? I need to move one speaker up 2 feet, and another speaker up 2 feet and over 3-4 feet. What exactly is involved?

Thanks,
Naya

If the speakers are in-wall, you are going to have some fun and learn drywall repair.
If they are surface moutnted, you can fish the wire up inside the wall for the one that goes up 2', however the one that has to go up 2' and over 3'...you either need to open some holes in the wall (drywall repair) or hopefully you can get to it from the attic, fish a wire down the wall...pull it to the attic and over and back down the wall.

naya, more info would be helpful. You didn't say if you want help with the mounting of the speakers or if you want help with running the wires, or both. And you didn't say if the speakers are IN the wall or ON the wall. Can we assume the wires are IN the wall?
Also, if the speakers are to be moved farther away from the source, then the wires will have to be extended, preferably by soldering, though you can twist them.
Please give more detail.

Thanks for the responses! The speakers are mounted ON the wall, and you are correct in assuming the wires are IN the wall. I just need help running the wires, I believe there is enough slack to get them where I want them.

Thanks so much.
