newly applied mud cracking

07/13/2009 08:24 PM bhlass

The mud application on my walls is cracking upon drying. I'm not exactly sure why.

It's a premix compound, that accidently got a little too much water added when thinning out. I used it on one wall to add the third layer with no problems. But the first layer on other walls is cracking, but not along all seams.

If too much water is the problem, I can always add from another bucket to thicken. But if something else may be the cause, I'd like to consider that as well.

Thanks,
Byram

To much water could do it and also if you apply it too heavily it will crack as well.
