old craftsman/***** power tools, any market for them?

05/01/2005 06:54 PM tomz71ss

is there a 'collector' market for them? my grandfather passed away last year, and my grandmother is moving to an apartment, as a result, i have been given the task of cleaning out the pole barn. during this task, i have come across 5 or 6 old power tools, they are actually made entirely of metal. most are craftsman, with a few odd names and a few black and decker items.

thanks for any input,

t

Yes, there is a market for vintage power tools. give a list by make and model and i can give you an indication of the interest in them. Old castiron table saws, bandsaws, jointers and planers have the greatest interest to people.

here's a few....

05/21/2005 01:55 PM tomz71ss

craftsman:

electric 1/2" impact tool [model # 51918850]

sabre saw [model # 31527941]

1/2" reversable drill [model # 3157783]

Black and Decker:

[2] 3/8" 'special drill' [cat # 754, type AA]

feather edger [cat # 785, type AA]

Speed way [by thor]:

3/8" drill [type 201J]

Skill:

sander [model # 592, type 3]

i also found some old hand drills, 2 are what i would call ratcheting, one has a hand crank with i think a 3 gear planetary set, and i found a few hand planes with no identifying tags/stampings on them.

if it will help, i can post pic's of all this stuff to help with identifying what exactly they are.

thanks again for any info you can pass along,

t

old craftsman table jig saw

05/26/2005 03:56 PM rching

My dad has this craftsman table jig saw and I'm trying to see if it is worth anything before I sell it to make room in the garage. If you email me, I can send an attachment back with pictures, worth 2-3000 words. Thanks, Randy

tomz71ss: the items that you have listed, I would personally consider as canadates for a garage sale. without knowing the details of condition and age, it is hard to give values. most of the type tools you list are in the hand tool catagory selling at garage sales for $5 to maybe $25 max. The type of tools that have value are the stationary and bench types, like table saws, 12 inch or larger power planers, jointers, etc

thank you, that's what i was looking for. not being knowledgeable about them, i didn't want to garage sale them and let a $100 tool go for $5.

again, thanks for the input, now i can garage sale them [once i determine they all work] and not feel like i over charged someone, or gave something away.

thanks,
