I am not in the building industry, but would like to save money and act as my own General Contractor. Can I get enough information through books, videos and the internet to complete the job? and if so, what do you recomend. |

DO NOT DO THIS! You will get what you pay for. Hire a qualified licensed and bonded building contractor. What you think you will save, you will end up spending double to fix it. |

We just finished building our own house. We acted as our own general contractor as well as doing much of the work ourselves. It did save us quite a bit of money, but it was A LOT of work!! Most of my family does this type of work, so we had experience in many of the facets of building a house..but it was still VERY hard!! I would definitely not recommend it for someone with no experience in this field. Just organizing the different parts of construction is very time consuming and almost a full-time job in itself. A good general contractor is definitely worth the money!! |
