If the acrylic/latex peels of it means you have oil based enamel on your woodwork. If you want to use acrylic then you will need to prime with an oil based undercoater before the acrylic or you can just apply an oil based enamel over what you have now. You should sand the woodwork lightly to aid in adhesion no matter what paint you use.
