Is it already painted or is it the factory finish?

I would wash it with ammonia and water first to be sure it is good and clean. Then you can prime it with a bonding primer such as Insl-X STIX and topcoat it with the acrylic finish paint of your choice. An eggshell finish would work well in a bathroom setting.
