painting poured concrete basement walls |

I want to spruce up our basement a bit by painting the basement walls which are poured concrete and would like to find out what the best paint would be. I am not interested in a waterproofing type of paint as I have read that this will not allow the walls to "breathe" and we really do not have a need to waterproof. Would an exterior masonry paint be the way to go? Thanks. |

imo, there's no paint that's adhere to conc permanently,,, you'll need a breathable wall coating instead,,, any water vapor transmitting thru the wall'll ' lift ' paint but a coating'll allow it to transfer.
in theory, there's no difference 'tween theory & practice,,, in practice, there is ! |

Thank you for your suggestion. This is exactly what I am looking for. Do you know where I could get this type of wall covering and what brand names there are? |

Try a local paint store. You'll want something that can handle moisture, assuming that's an issue in your basement. |
