I installed a Water-ridge (costco brand) pedestal sink a few months ago. The instructions gave me the option to use toggle bolts to attach the basin to the drywall. We had the wall open anyway so I manueverd a piece of 2x4 up to where I needed support and used the Lag screws for a tighter fit. I don't trust drywall to keep things from moving.
The connection to the wall in my case is just for stability, the pedestal supports the weight. We used caulk to keep the base of the pedestal in position. No problems so far. Definetly caulk the juncition to the wall as much as you can.
Our pedestal was shaped to match the basin, would would make it not level.
if your pedestal is not plumb, I would definetly complain.
oh, yeah, the pink double thick teflon tape isn't too attractive, learn from my install, avoid it for visible connections. |
