I have a portion of my roof that is flat above my 2nd floor office. Sitting at my desk, I can hear a squirrel(s) move around and sounds like they are making a new home for themselves in the space between my ceilling and roof. I had gone up into my attack to try to gain access to this space but can not. There are some small holes in my soffits that must be the doorway onto my roof. Before I patch these wholes up, I need to get the critter outta there as I do not want to trap him and have him die up there. I have tried banging on the ceilling to scare him out, but he is not budging. How do I get this pesky squirrel out. Thanks for any help.

You're probably going to have to watch for the squirrel to come out...this time of year they are usually pretty active all day.Your bigger problem is going to be keeping him/her out even after you patch the hole(s).I've heard more than one story about these varmints re-entering areas of houses where they once gained entry.You may save time by trapping the thing and letting him go across town somewhere.Good Luck!

P.S. Most Police Departments have an animal control person who could also be of assistance,especially if there is a family of squirrels up there.

Use a bug bomb or spray an offending bug spray into the area and get out of the way. It worked for me.

I had squirrels in my attic. The pest control people put the traps outside where they were getting in. Apparently they have to come outside to get food and such. If you trap them I read that you have to take them at least 7 to 10 miles away or they will find their way back

We had squirrels in our attic and put up with them until they chewed a hole in the roof.

You need to get them out right away. A bug bomb will get them out. Next, you must seal all entrances with metal. We used aluminum flashing and painted it to match.

Squirrels chew everything. Wiring is a favorite. Any fires that they start won't be covered by your insurance.
