plumber can't unclog- wants to replace toilet

11/23/2004 12:31 PM mknotts111

We got a clog in the toilet and had a plumber come out to unclog it. After using the toilet twice, it was clogged again. The plumber came back out and was unable to unclog it and recommended we replace it with a new toilet.

He did not remove the toilet from the floor to see if he could unclog it that way. He says this will not help because if the pipes are backed-up then we would be having difficulty with the sink and showers also.

What I do not understand is how a new toilet will unclog the toilet. Can you please give me some help with this situation??? Is a new toilet really going to fix it?

NOPE!

If the piping system is clogged, a new toilet, sink, shower, tub, and anything else is not going to solve the problem.

I would get another plumber out to snake out the lines and if possible, one with a camera who can look into your pipes to see if there is a collapse or tree roots present.

But, please get rid of the existing plumber, he is only costing you additional funds.

You were right....I called a different plumber to come in. He was able to unclog the toilet successfully and with ease!
