poor drainage in yard.

i also have standing water after a day of rain. the area is aproxx. 150'x100. there are some low lying areas. should this area be leveled out first, w/ sloping towards the outer perimeter of the yard, then install french drains at specific locations along the perimeter that is most prevelent access for the runoff of other adjoining properties. also if this a large task to undertake who can i contact for professional help? landscaping businesses?

Find out what county official office does perc tests in your area. Call and talk to them first and let them know your situation. They may come out and charge for a test, but they will probably give you a better overall report on what you need to do than a landscaper. Even if they won't come out, they usually have pretty good contacts for that type of situation. Good luck in getting rid of that water!
