My folks bought a new modular home and within 3 months the floors started buckling and popping up in spots. one spot is in the kitchen under the linoleum. they were told that in order to fix these problems, the linoleum would have to be cut along the edge of the cabinets, floors fixed, and then reapply linoleum and have to put quarter round down all the way around the kitchen to cover the cut linoleum. the floors are insulated in the crawl space. is it common practice on modulars not to liquid nail subfloor to joists? they have a one year guarantee, but they dont want all of their carpets ripped up, linoleum ripped up etc... It sure dont seem right for a hundred thousand dollar home to have that kind of problem. is it common in modulars. modular sure looks like BIG mistake to me. |

Our floor started popping also. They had to come out and tighten something underneath the floor. They do not have to rip out the floor. |

ours did the same thing! They came and pulled the floor joists down and secured them with boards. we have a full baement though. This did not help! They want to do the same thing in ours. (ripping up the flooring). We are experienceing many problems with ours, and are now deciding to get a good attorney.
Good Luck

I am in the decision stage on whether or not to go modular. May I ask who the manufacturer of your modular is? Thanks. |

I am being told Pro-Built is great by a modular builder that represents them I am starting to deal. He said he has done his homework. Well I am doing mine - can you be more specific about the problems you are encountering so I can question him?
Thanks! |
