reading carpentry blueprints

05/20/2006 10:24 PM WillDundee

I built a house from foundation to roof a few years back but used absolutely no blueprints or drawings.I am about to embark on builing a ranch style house with a 22'x22'garage starting in mid june 2006.I have a very sound understanding of carpentry and home building but don't know how to apply this to blueprints-like figuring rough openings for doors and windows and interior walls-the actual measurements from here to there in other words, framing the rough openings and interior walls is no problem, its just reading a blueprint and figuring where to put them(this measurement up from the sill-this measurement in from the corner etc?can anyone help me on this?if the plans are at 1/4 inch scale are all these found by working off of this scale?could use your help.thanks WillDundee
