I have a 4 year-old GE Profile Performance refrigerator that is leaking water at the bottom of the refrigerator door. It is most pronounced at the bottom hinge (where water is rusty), but you can feel water all along the bottom if you run your hand under the door. The freezer is fine. There is no water in the refrigerator itself nor anywhere else on the door.
A local repair technician told me he thought is was condensation forming inside the door and dripping out (there does not appear to be any other source where the water could be coming from). He says doors cannot be repaired, only replaced as a unit.
I'm am going to call someone in GE customer service to verify this -- and get some info. as to why this would happen after getting absolutely no answers from reps on their 1-800 service line today.
Any ideas as to what could cause this and what I could do?

I'm afraid that does not help to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its complete model number as written on the appliances identification tag.

That may be a possibility depending on the exact model of fridge you have and how it was designed. If the door uses 'foamed in place' (aka FIP) insulation. It can not be changed, the whole door would have to be replaced if the insulation was a problem or required.

A crack in the inner door panel might cause it as well as *maybe* improperly manufactured door which resulted in improper levels of insulation in it.

If the problem is in the door and it if the FIP style, replace the door or complain to GE and see if they'll do anything for you. BTW. Complaints in writing get more attention than just phone calls or emails.
