replacing pop-up assembly of pedestal sink

02/19/2008 09:02 PM abfab04

this is my first time repairing a pedestal sink so would appreciate some insight...

i have to replace the pop-up assembly of my bathroom sink because the metal pipe broke causing it to leak. the problem is that there is so little room between the sink and the wall that i can't get a wrench in there. i can only hand tighten the metal nut underneath which causes it to leak above the gasket. is there a special wrench available for such repairs or do i have to remove the pedestal? the pedestal portion is attached to the sink with a very hard sealant.

thanks in advance!
