Hi,

I want to replace my old thermostats on my electric baseboard heaters. The new thermostats that I bought are rated 16A. The old thermostats have no rating on them but the heaters have 24A on them. Not sure if that means max or running load.

Anyway, how do I figure out if it is ok to use these thermostats? The circuit is on 20A breakers.

I doubt if the 24A is the amperage of the heaters.

Remove the access panels on each end. One of them should have a label giving the voltage and wattage.

Otherwise baseboard heaters are typically 250 watts per foot. And if there are more than one on that thermostat you need to add all of them togehter.
