stiffer?

04/03/2008 08:03 PM latexia707

Hello to all,

this is just a general question about structure...

long time ago... when they were building houses, they put planks over the joists... not quite perpendicular. today they put plywood to speed things up...

so... other than adding some sort of rigidity for the finished floor, is the 'under floor' adds stifness to a house... in so many words... is a house just on joists stiffer than a house with a floor... just like a frame is stiffer if it has braces rather than just the frame which has none...

thanks in advance!
