strawbale houses

04/05/2005 11:24 AM wilkeswife

Hello, I am an empty nester soon to have a new house: a straw bale one, around 1700 Sq.Ft.

My husband has been researching these beauties for the last 5 years now and has a small library on information on the technique. He is determined to build one in the SW, more than likely New Mexico.

Anyone with advice or care to share their experiences?

Straw Bale construction

Hello,
Just wanted to see if the house has been started yet. We are building a new home and it will take about two years as we are doing it all ourselves. It is not a straw bale house but I am going to do the garden walls and such with straw bale and am currnetly working on a "club house" for my daughter out of straw bale. Unfortunately the only thing we have done is dig the foundation as I have trouble finding information. I know there are lots of books and videos out there but I cant afford to buy them or go to a class. The free volunteer work type classes are too far away for me to attend. I wondered if you have a site where you will post photos and your experiences as you go? Thanks
Lori

Here is a great web page to visit with tons of information about how a couple built their strawbale house. I want to build one too.
