thermal fuse for recessed lighting

08/27/2008 09:27 AM yeeder

I'm trying to buy a thermal fuse for my recessed light. It has 3 wires, blue, white, and black. It says GTE RP 1A on it and it has threads on it. I would just buy another recessed light but, the way it is installed it would involve dry walling and I want to avoid this.

I just ran across the same thing in my house. I'd be interested if you figured anything out.

Went to local electric supply company and they had a replacement for $7.50.

1/2 hour and everything is back to normal.

Please share where you purchased yours. I need two of them for my mother-in-laws house. (Are you sensing the urgency?!)

Thanks.

Try lighting supply stores

We had no luck with electrical supply stores, so we started calling local lighting stores and got lucky finding some old fixtures to recycle. Good luck!
