I like the top fridge design, but am not sure whether to get the chest freezer or the door type. Does anyone have one and advice? Dan? (do you sell appliances to eastern PA, Dan?)

Chest freezers are the most efficient (see the following). If you go with an upright, I suggest you get a frost free model.

From a quick comparison I did from information posted at Frigidaire's web site.

20 cu.ft chest freezer uses 490 kWh/year
20 cu.ft upright freezer uses 763 kWh/year

just for comparison:

EnergyStar 20 cu.ft. Top-freezer fridge 458 kWh/year
Regular 20 cu.ft. Top-freezer fridge 509 kWh/year
23 cu.ft. Side by side 686 kWh/year

I chose an upright because of its "footprint". It takes up less floor space.

I mean the reverse arrangement of the standard fridge, with the freezer below the fridge. They come with a door or a pull out and I don't know which kind is better to use on a daily basis. thanks

A drawer is usually what those are referred to rather than a chest.

I've heard many bottom freezer models with a freezer drawer have been having problems with the drawer's tracks. I don't know if the current models are made any differently now or not.

OK, got it.
I like the freezer on the bottom because I get into the refrigerator much more often than the freezer, and it's nice to have the things I want most often at eye level.
Other than that, no preference.
