tub drain pipes frozen

02/09/2008 07:18 PM rosie18mason

hello, i was wondering if anyone had any ideas about tub drain pipes. we have tried hot water, liquid fire, and we even had a plumber come in and he couldn't even unthaw them. we rent our place and the only suggestion he has is to cut holes into the walls and to put 2 box ceramic heaters on either side. The temp here has been -48 degrees Celsius and it is a trailer home. The hot water and cold water pipes are fine. just the drain... and we are sick of having to bail out the tub to shower.

did anyone try a snake? also who made the diagnosis that it's frozen as opposed to just plain plugged up.
in addition since you rent it is the landlord's responsibility.

A snake will not work on frozen drain lines What will work is a water jetter using either hot of cold water as the high pressure alone with a penetrating nozzle will cut right through the ice
