I want to put vinyl fascia over the old alum fascia. do I need to punch nail holes into the vinyl before I nail it? I plan on using trim nails to hold it up will the tempature changes cause a problem? I live near pittsburgh pa .

You can nail right through the fascia. apply the fascia during fairly warm weather so that it will be applied while slightly expanded. Or, when it gets warm in the summer, it may swell and have a warped appearance.
