We are in the process of purchasing a 30yr old home with a crawlspace. We had a termite inspection and a home inspection. During the initial inspection, a water leak on the main supply line was found in the crawlspace. This was scheduled to be repaired and re-inspected. Upon reinspection the original area was repaired but the hot water was turned off. When the hot water was turned on a new area was found to be leaking and water had leaked onto a one square foot section of insulation. My question is does the wet insulation need to be replaced? Also, should the wet plastic vapor barrier be replaced? And finally, is this supply line leak a plumbing nightmare? Noone is acting like it is a big deal. Thank you for any advice you can give.
